Post by sirloveyou »

Hi
Having issues with my cooling fan ...
Run it up & it starts to get hot but fan doesn't kick in as it gets close to the red I turned the key off then back on, suddenly the fun kicks in !!!
Start it up fan runs for abit then stops, engine gets hot again but fan doesn't kick in, again turn it off then turn ignition on & the fan kicks in
I'm lost any ideas anyone ?
Thank you

Sound like a connection issue. Check your temperature sensor wiring & connections & check all earth connections.

Agree. Check the right rad where you have the connector block at the front. There's also an earth above the fan. You can test the fan by earthing out the wire from the sender unit.

While the fairing is off you may as well check your coolant levels as well. If fluid does not reach the level of the sender unit in the rad then the fan wont switch on. Which could explain why the fan does not work with the engine running, water circulating, but does when off. The fluid level will drop a bit when running, so it may drop just below the sender unit. Then when you switch the engine off it rises back up to the sender unit level.

It might just be that there's something holding the fan blades in place, so just put your fingers in and check it turns easily with no clicks. It's easy for the RH rad front connector to become detached and interfere with the blades.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
