Hello, my name is marcin, and i love V-Twin

Post by macin »

Hello Girls and Guys

I am from Poland, east side and for the first time i heard vtr 1000 firestorm engine i loved it

well i am not riding vtr bike but i use vtr engine ... for my ... buggy, hope You won't hate me because of that

so this is how it looks like

and my favorite video

my build was started in 2009 and still got something to upgrade

i bought vtr firestorm 1999 year with 12,000 km after accident (driver survived, broken legs, fault of car who didn't see him, actually not a car but a driver of that car)

so engine is excelent, i mean torque from low rpm, v4 or r4 engines are noisy, high rpm, much more HP but what i can tell ... i don't want anything else

this winter i got a plan to rebuild engine, to check all i can and build it to have some good time on road and off road

so once again welcome everybody and it is time for me to search some information about rebuilding it

Greetings - Impressive performing & sounding buggy! Not sure if its the camera near the engine but audio picks up a rattle. If you haven't done so already fit some manual Cam Chain Tensioners, plus look at upgrading R/R (regulator/rectifier0 from standard unfinned one.

Did you manage to keep airbox and filter standard?

Lots of useful info in the workshop knowledgebase section inc. Factory PDF Service manual.

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Hi Wicky

thank You for suggestions

audio is because of vibration i think, Cam Chain Tensioners are series, didn't do anything with that after i bought it, i will look forward to get manual and check it, for regulator / recifier i have made coolant from pc fan

airbox is modified, inside there is KN oiled filter + i blocked intake and made a hole on a top of the airbox and placed there cyclone air filter (now all dirt is inside cyclone filter, regular KN filter is almost clean)

i have made cyclone filter beacause i think i am stupid a little, or more than little, once i ride in deep water

Image

carbs get water, engine stopped, so this is main reason why i want / should rebuild that

and here You can see this cyclone filter

oh My, great mower top done work !! and sexy :D

i am searching and reading workshop now, thank You very much

Hello & welcome :)

That looks amazing! I'd have the buggy over the lawn mower any day!

I'm now trying to think of other uses for the VTR engine... :)
