Hi to all, some advise please before I part with a few pennies.
I have had an issue with petrol coming through one of the breather pipes when the tank is filled to the brim, and after much investigation it seems the pipe within the tank (the one not easily seen) has a pin hole resulting in a replacement tank requirement (or don't fill it up to the top, but with the range on these bikes you need every drop lol!) My bike has the smaller capacity tank, so the question is does the larger capacity tank on newer models fit mine. Seems like a good opportunity to make life a little easier and travel a little further on a tank full if it can be done.
Thanks in advance
Best Wishes

Re: petrol tank
Yes, it fits... You just need a few ancillary parts, like the pet-rock and mount plus a hose from the newer bike as well, to make it work... Other than that, it's just bolt one of, the other on...

A bigger tank you should be so lucky
you best rob a bank and get in the queue.

Just don't fill it to the brim. you will only waste that little extra out the overflow anyway. One hose is a breather and one is an overflow/drain. Not only that you risk a vapour lock and having starting/running problems especially in hot weather where things can expand under pressure that little more.

Sounds like you are over filling it and the surplus petrol is flowing out via the overflow outlet in the filler cap to the overflow pipe out the bottom. As Carl suggests fill up to indicator ring.
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Re: petrol tank
Thanks for the replies, much appreciated. I am filling to the correct level, so the fault is a real one and will need resolving at some point. It's not a must do immediately, as filling to a lower level sorts the problem, but as the change needs to be done, the larger version tank seems a good route to go. Thanks again
