Blade 929/954 forks- advice needed

Post by tony.mon »

How can you take the lower (black) bit off the stanchion?

I see you can buy stanchions easily and cheaply enough, but I now need to swap over a lower casting from one (pitted) set to an unpitted set- but the unpitted set has a damaged lower- the mudguard mounting casting has snapped...
Making a single set out of the parts is the idea.

I bought my replacement set from K Tech and they pressed the lowers on for me. Sorry don't know the process. You could give them a bell and ask.

If you heat the casting up, with casting in a vice, the stanchions might unscrew. They might have used loctite.

Also did you hear about the blade lower casting recall?

Cheers for info, no didn't know about the recall, but as I don't know any details re the donor bikes, it probably won't be possible to find out if these are affected or not.

I'll try HM racing, they do sussies and are nearby.
Otherwise I'll be sending them to K Tech.
