Hello all
Just done the samething before I had to go offshore poss.
The barsteward thing only has 8400mls on it too.
Looks like I've stretched the cam chain as well as bent the inlet valves can't get the timing marks to line up on the cams now.( thanks del for the info)
I'll have to wait till I get back from abroad before I can try a new chain in it.
I was just starting to get the hang of wheelies on it too.

Update time, after taking the advice of many people on here the head is off and i've bent the inlet valves, which for sadistic reasons put a smile on my face

Still Ebay is my friend and another head is on route, My local Honda dealer has sorted me a head gasket so hopefully i'll be back on the road before the weather decides to change.

Redstorm hope you get it back together soon, and is there a masterclass for wheelie a VTR? The only time i've come close to a wheelie is giving it a handful at the lights, sh*t meslf and whipped the clutch in rapid :(

Started on the throttle in first sitting well back in the seat against the hump, started getting used to having the front end get light then slowly getting used the front getting higher, each time with smooth reduction on the throttle knowing you can touch down gently gives great confidence.(cover the back brake just in case)
from there it was bring her up until you run out of space or acceleration.
Got used to a bit of height from the front wheel so moved to clutching it under mild acceleration at about 5 or 6 grand in one fluid motion (or as close an approximation to one as you can) pull in the clutch give some welly then open the clutch hey presto your front wheels up.
You don't need a full clutch one finger'll do and it took me a while to get used to opening it up.
I'm by no means an expert and haven't yet found the balance point nor can I do slow wheelies using the rear brake but by doing this over a week or two it gave me the confidence to pop them on demand (even done a few on the blackbird) with a modicum of smoothness that can sometimes look like I know what I'm doing

Still no wheelies as still not fixed the VTR, bloomin thing won't stop overheating (i've posted a help message in workshop) and being mildly mechanically incompetent, i can't fathom out why its getting so hot.

Still like X-factor, these things are sent to try us.
