19 Litre tank

Post by leevtr »

Minor prob chaps. Might be a 10 min fix in the morning, but thought I'd ask anyway.

My 19 litre tank is fitted with a vara tap, which is in such a position that its causing the fuel line to pinch when its lowered.

It needs to spin about 90 degrees, but in the direction that means loosening it. I doubt it will turn 270 in the other direction without pinching the o-ring. Like I said it may be a 10 min cure, but thought I'd see if anyone else has done it.
Cheers

Lee IIRC I think there may be two styles of Vara taps. One has the butt at a 90 degree angle as the standards storm tap has. And the other, the butt sticks out towards the rear of tank. A pic would be good trying to figure this one out.

I'll have a looksy tomorrow. Just thinking if I back it off 90 degrees it will leak, which isnt gonna be ideal. Who knows there may be enough in it to back it off along with a bit of instant gasket and happy days. Dont want a bodge job though

It may be a daft question, but can you fit a 19L tank onto a bike that has the smaller 17L tank? Of so do you have to make any modifications?

That's what he's doing Bertiew.

Biggest problem seems to be finding a 19l tank.

I have two, none of which are connected to any bike... The ironic part is that I have been looking for six years for one... And now two turns up...

you lot ought to get yourself backache.

I reckon 100 miles on the bike and I would be ready for a chiropractor :sad2

Depends on the pace an setup... :) On my roadbike, I can barely push it to 100 miles on the 16L, but that's babying it... On the trackbike, I'd be happy to make 50, seeing as it gobbles up the go-juice like an addict... Both needs a bigger one, since its starting to piss me off...
