Could it be summat as daft as that! I'm sure it's the front that's misfiring! I'll see if I can borrow a jerry can to drain it down (or Pauline's car!) I have a jiggle siphon. Do you have my address?

No txt it to me please or I'll be driving around the bend !
If it's blocked then it's not getting fuel and won't pick up .
That's why I think it's fuel related .

Do you have a front cylinder carb balancing take off fitted Clive? The hose came off of mine once and gave a similar symptom but not as dramatic. Same would happen if the stopper had come out of the pipe.
Good luck with it.

Not that I know of Kev, I've never fitted one - but will check that out too!

Well, Lloydie and I (mostly Lloydie to be honest) spent a good 3 hours plus. Swapped carbs, igniter boxes, front coil, fuel tap, there appears to be a circuit between coil and igniter box. Still no change. It just won't rev past 3,000 - dropping onto 1 cylinder. You can hear the front popping and banging. 'Tis a mystery indeed!

Shooting in the wind here but looking through the thread no mention has been made on your timing situation and where the TPS is at.

Certainly a hard one to track down this one. If it wasn't at such low revs the pulse generator would be a contender.

Lloydie checked the TPS - and we also did a complete carb swap. Pulse generator - is that the ignition trigger?

Another thought is generator breaking down, apparently that could cause my symptoms....?

Yes but normally it's higher revs where issues arise if that's faulty.

Tps was high but on the carbs we fitted from my spares the tps was set right .
I've bagged up a genny and ignition pick up and a spare loom for testing .
