I accept my dog is pretty big, and he does run up to people if I don't get hold of him, but all he wants to do is sniff at the other dog see below this is him 6 months ago, he's 18 months old now so essencially still a pup.
What annoys me is people screaming and shouting at me that my dog is killing theirs while it's patently obvious that’s not the case, if my dog (Griff) properly attacked say a spaniel I agree he could do a lot of damage, but the owners (including this guy tonight) don’t seem to realise the absence of any injury to their dog suggests it hasn’t actuallybeen attacked, merely sniffed at.
Rant over I need a drink
I know what your saying bud but try and see it from the other dog owners perspective,
owning a small dog my self its an butt clenching moment when some guys big dog come running over to mine, it only takes mine to get scared and 'fight or flight' and if it fights in panic it could very well make a bigger dog react badly and attack my dog
when i had dogs that would run at other peoples dog, when i spotted other peoples dogs i shouted mine back and put it on the lead until passed
My dad had to kick some wombles lassie type dog when it bit our Manchester terrier which was on her lead some years back that could have been avoided had the owner of his dog kept his on a wombles lead until we had passed
