Hi, Can someone explain how to read the digital fuel gauge on my '03 model please?
I only have an owners manual for the earlier '98 model which does not cover this topic.
I have just purchased the bike (a week ago) and am not sure how far I can let the fuel gauge reading go down on the screen before I need to refuel. I have been down to where there is just one segment showing next to the "E" mark and then I refuel. How far further than that reading can I ride before having to refuel?
Or is there a "low level" light that comes on when it gets dangerously low, or does the last segment flash on or off or any such thing?
I don't want to run too low and have to push the bike to a servo when I run out of juice.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Don

The last bar will be a dark block when you reach it, this usually means you have about 8/9 litres left (at least on my tank it does) in the tank..
Shortly after it will start flashing red and the previous dark colour, this is usually about 6 litres or so and you need to start looking for petrol

When I saw the title I was tempted to say when you put fuel in it goes up and when you use fuel up it goes down.
You will also notice that the first bar disappears rather fast and the last bar stays on for longer. It's a gradual thing but the lower you get the longer the bar remains.

Yes, maybe I should have titled the thread " Dumb Ozzie Wantsto Know How to Read Fuel Gauge Properly". haha
I did notice that the top bar does disappear very quickly, almost before I get out of the servo. Glad to hear this progression gets slower as the tank empties out.
Thanks for the precise liter measurements at the respective bars (flashing, etc). I thought there must have been another indication when the tank was getting close to empty rather than diving into a servo as soon as the lower bar was reached and then the tank only took about 10 liters.
Thanks for the education and explanations.
