New boots too big

OK did a 60 mile ride yesterday after getting the bike back together. The bike is running sweet however, my new boots are not happy with the gear shift. Being a lot wider on the toe area I am finding the gear shifting up much harder, I feel that I need to raise the gear shift up so I can fit under it better. Could someone run me through the adjustment procedure if it is possible on standard resets.

To adjust the height of the gear change lever you need to adjust the length of the joining rod, the rod that goes between the two rose joints. You need to slacken off a lock nut at each end of the rod (remembering one end has a lefthand thread IIRC I can't remember which one of the top of my head). Turning the rod one way will raise the gear change lever, the opposite way will lower it. Once you have altered the height remember to re-tighten up the two lock nuts.

Your memory is not that bad as you are indeed correct.

While you at it you may want to move the linkage arm that attaches to the spline on gearbox 1 notch clockwise to give yourself a shorter shift. This helps with gear changes.

I had the same issue with my new boots which were wider / bulkier in the toe area tweaking the position of the gear lever sorted it.

I have no idea but it is a sensor of some description. Cannot even find it in the Haynes manual.

You should have the neutral switch wire connected there. Have you not got a neutral light on the dash.

Yes neutral light is working fine possibly due the fact this is an F2 model. It is the neutral switch 9.18 image 22.2 Haynes manual

Well that was my first thought too. Weird....you should trace your wiring, see if you can find the plug, and where's the neutral lights getting it's power from.

Done check the gear lever in the top photo one notch clockwise

BTW the fairing bolt is not missing it just had not been fitted as I had to do another fixing on the water pump
