A Sump Full of This

Post by 2wheelsagain »

How would you feel if you drained this from your sump. Make that 10lt of Motul/BP mix!

Dont worry about the dirt in it its only a sample.
I hope my storm hasnt done a bearing or worse.
Leaking petc0ck seems to be the cause.
It p!ssed fuel out on the floor of the garage too.
It may only be my opinion but it's mine!

I had that happen to me once on an old Triumph 650 Thunderbird. I had forgot to turn the fuel tap off. The float needle valve in one of the carbs must have got stuck open allowing the petrol to seep down past the piston rings and fill up the sump. The bike had been standing all day at work.

Providing you haven't tried starting the bike you should be okay. Best to check out your fuel problem and fix that before putting any new oil in there,

Chris.

I had this to on a cbr600 and like Chris I forgot to turn the fuel off and the tank emptied In to the engine .
Tho it cleaned the inside of the engine very nice .

I drained the oil and fuel out swapped the oil filter .
Fitted new filter and oil only cheap stuff mind .
Took off the plug caps and turned it over till the oil light went out , refitted the plug caps and ran it up to temp ,
Then did a oil and filter change with the good stuff and it was fine then .
