White Wheels !

Post by Moocher »

Image

The Wheels were a bit grotty and I had little faith they could replicate the colour so I had the wheels powder coated white and Carl Harrison (of Harleston) fitted new bearings and Pirelli Tyres.
As the sun was out and the roads drying this afternoon, I took it out for a 50 mile bash round the local roads to scrub in the rubber.

I have not ridden it much but each time I am really pleased with it. ( No I bloody love it)

Wind around my helmet causes whistles and moans that I am not used to. I keep thinking I can hear a police siren and looking round can't locate it.

Does anyone know how accurate the speedo is?

At 4000 rpm in top gear my speedo reads 75.

Looking good and tasteful! In Brentwood the TOWIE fashion is to have white wheels and respray the bodywork orange :shh:

Ooo my eyes it's so bright and shiny. Looks good and now the wheel weights are a feature piece. Nice to shiny header piper too.

What lid you got then? the usual suspect place for wind noise is up through the neck, hence the sale of windjammer, skirt neck roll things. Or is it with the visor open or maybe through some vents. You could try blocking vents, close the visor to try and work out what's causing the whistling. Or even wrap a scarf around the neck area and block that. At least if you can work out where it's making the noise you can then do something about it. Either that or get a different lid.

Speedo's are not the most accurate and can be about 7% out on average. Don't forget any sprocket size changes also affects this.

It's direct wind blast from the screen. I am looking for a new screen anyway as the one fitted has crazed on the inside.
I need a screen that is as long but also has a deflector on the top edge to kick the airflow over my helmet.
Any suggestions????

I ride with an AGV Skyline.

Oh right, tricky one that as depending on you height and riding position different screens will have a different affect. Trial and error I would say.

It's been many moons ago that I rode the storm with a standard screen - but I found the wind would hit me upper chest and helmet - (I'm 5' 10" and perfectly proportioned - i.e just about average ;) This was on the test ride over a decade ago and the first thing I bought was the new screen. With the flip screen it pushes to oncoming air so it just clips the top of the helmet - to avoid any buffeting I just need to slightly crouch/lean forward into a calm pocket of air. Makes +90mph sustained cruising a breeze…

And I recommend decent earplugs > http://www.boots.com/en/Boots-Soft-Sili ... -_1121441/

I'll second that, I have absolutely no complaints about a puig and I'm the best part of 6ft
