Well ck and I went for a ride after Virt left and we made it 30 odd miles till the rain came .
It fecked it down then kermit dropped rear cylinder then the front .
Left it 30 mins then it ran again for 5 miles then went again in the wet conditions .
Called the Rac for recovery and while we were waiting we pulled the fairings off and the pick up plug behind the left rad was wet so we dried it off and wrapped it in a plastic bag with cable ties either end to keep it dry .
It fired up on both so fairings back on and off we went again .
10 miles later it drops one then both again .
This time we were 1 miles from the BP services on the A46 , I grabbed hold of ck's pillion seat for a tow to the services (that was fun!!) .
Rang the Rac up again with the new location and they sent out George (local biker ) in his Rac van and he couldn't find the fault either .
Charging ok
Tank breathing ok
Fuel in carbs
Coils feeds ok
But still dropping down to one then both and back on front .
Managed to get it home now and no idea what's wrong except it's rain related !!

I think you are correct to look at the electrics, but it could also be worth checking the carb and tank vents arnt blocking with water. as my tanK vent incident dropping the rear cyl felt like an electrical issue....
Might just be worth a check and cut all the low hanging vents at 45degrees

Yep I'm checking them too .
I'm in the process of fully rebuilding the hole bike after ck and I stripped it down today . Paying special attention to the fuel and electrics .
First thing we checked was the fuel tap thingy and that was good .
I'm going to reroute the tank breather too to get it away from the front .
Every connector is getting taped up too .

i would take every plug/socket apart and spray some GT85 in, after checking for crappy connections. that may not sort it but that is another job well worth doing, and it wouldn't take long. Try changing the coils if you have a spare set too. Plugs caps etc.( you've probably checked all that though.) hope you get it sorted.

Everything is off the bike and every plug is being cleaned and what not .
I did notice the 3 yellow wires from the generator plug on the loom side burnt !!
But as I'm swapping the loom it's not a problem .
It's charging good at 14.5v and no spiking .
