what tyre size
when i brought this bike it had a 190 rear tyre but it should have a 180
so when it came to a new tyre i brought a 180
but i was just wondering what you have and why
does it make much difference

Re: what tyre size
180 for these unless you fit a 190 made for a 5.5" rim

Re: what tyre size
thanks for the replys i know the book says 180 but
i was wondering if it would make much of a differance to have a 190
just wondering why it had 190 when i brought it
think i had less sissy line when on the 190

Re: what tyre size
180 is the one to go for..the firestorm is not designed for 190 and it
would probably cause handling/suspension issues for the machine..

Your Firestorm will handle best with a 180 section rear tyre providing it still has standard wheels or wheels that are the same width. It'll be mainly posers who have gone for the wider 190 rear tyre

Re: what tyre size
Used 190 for a few yrs now but only because I got them free or very cheap, can't say I've noticed any difference in handling or had any issues with them, the storm is fitted with 180 as standard but I really haven't noticed a difference

Re: what tyre size
Consider this:
In the event of a claim would your insurance company honour fitment of a non stock 190 tyre ?
Ignoring the macho posers side of having wide rubber (ooh err) Honda spent 100s of development hours and £millIons, concluding that the bike should have the given (albeit popular size) 180.
Unless the 190 is a better price / availability /wider range it has been reported in this thread no difference.
I used to be a massive NC30 fan. Standard on that was 150 section. Some fitted 160 but only to access a wider choice. Personally when I tested one I felt it slowed the steering response.

Re: what tyre size
They generally are as they are not as common a size. That's the annoying thing for me. Why 180's cost more for less rubber is just greed. Very good point about the insurance claim.Unless the 190 is a better price
I agree stick with the 180 unless you only going in straight lines.

Re: what tyre size
I'm sticking a 190 on piggy but that's a 6" rim and I'm only using that as it's lighter and it'll match the front .
The moriwaki stg2-3 bikes use a 6.5" rim and a 200 tyre I believe tho I may be wrong
