I have never really bothered messing with the carbs until a couple of months ago. I have had 7 storms and 6 were working good enough to sell on without any messing about. I did put road miles on all of them as well.
On my current storm (Frank the track rat) i have decided to mess with the carbs. After a steep learning curve trying to get the thing running right in standard trim, i went the whole hog and starting messing with jets, filters, tps and stuff.
I have to say that i could not have done this without some of the documentation on the forum, even though i consider myself competent with a spanner.
I have seen many posts and documents and do not have links to all of them.
Here are 2 that i found particularly useful when i was getting started

If there are any other good ones that folks know about could you please help me find them.
My current set up is
High level Arts cans
6 sigma jet kit
190 mains (180 are included as well, but i went large)
50 pilot
Drilled slide
1 coil clipped off slide spring
Needle up with two shims provided in kit
TPS round to about 500 ohms
K&N filter
Mixture screws 2.5 front, 2.25 rear.
It is notably more fruity than standard but could probably do with some further refinement. Cannot afford big bucks and enjoy learning how to do as much as i can myself. I will chuck it on a dyno when i am happy and have some cash.
Are there any other documents that would help in the next phase?

Ah, someone that used the Sigma jet kit! How did you like it? What did it come with? Did the kit tell you to clip the carb slide spring?
I have never heard someone refer to thier motorcycle working better as being "fruity". That's ah...yeah, that's a new one.

It came with
180 and 190 mains
50 pilots
shims to lift the needle
drill to put a hole in the slide
no springs but guidance on clipping them
the instructions are pretty good and there is also some useful stuff on setting up carbs
Like i said, it produced a notable positive change in performance. eg. it would be worth trying the 180 mains to see what that feels like, i could do with tweaking the mixture screws (fitted the thumb screw yesterday).
But to get something ride-able with more ummph out the box was a surprise.
When i get the cash and time it will get on a dyno to see how much (got a default set of carbs for comparison)
