sp1 or sp2 swing arm
sp1 or sp2 swing arm
Hi guys was on fleebay noticed a couple of swing arms from sp1 and 2 will these fit the storm
Re: sp1 or sp2 swing arm
As far as I'm aware they don't fit or would take a lot of work. If your after a braced arm if your handy with a grinder get a cheap blade swing arm (can't remember what year, sorry) cut the brace off and with a bit of time and effort you can get that cut and shaped right and then get it welded on.
Not the best reply but I've literally just woken up, sorry. Someone more awake will be along soon with better info.

It can be done, but as CK says, it's a lot of work.

Re: sp1 or sp2 swing arm
If you have the machining skills then your halfway there, but this is no simple task and will take some customization. Not only is it the attachment of the swinger but the length you have to take into consideration as this will affect the rake and trail. The you have the issue of rear wheel. Not the easiest of mod's. Most people have gone the CBR900 route as it's a more straight forward swap and retains the standard wheel.

Re: sp1 or sp2 swing arm
And the spindle diameters are different.. and swing arm angle will change and so will shock length and rising rate ratios unless you sort linkage properly. Longer dog bone required. They are also thinner across the mounting width so your rear sets will need to be different.. just to add that in the mix.
Why ask... sometime you just go to do it and find out?

Thanks guys interesting reading will have a think now if want to go down this route as it is a lot of work and without having the machine tools
