what have you done to your "bike" today

Had a stressful ride across London traffic and back in the p...ing down rain. It seems everyone was out to get me, cabs, buses, lorries, cyclists grrrr.

Went down to Essential rubber to get a new front tyre as it's borderline and the MOT is due at the end of the week. It looks like Essential rubber may have closed or moved. I tried calling them first and there was no answer so went down there on the off chance and it's looking very tatty down there. No sign of any bikes and I didn't see the sign they usually have out on the slip road near the entrance and the sign outside the unit is half missing. Strange and their website has not been updated since Christmas. I might have to give FWR a go down in Kennington.

I painted my new 2nd hand oil lines with high temperature matt black spray paint.

I wonder if it will be up to the job or just blister off ? ?

Did you key it first if so should be good

I gave them a good buff up which made them fairly smooth to be honest. the product said no primer reqd ?

they have had 5 coats and now look quite good actually. will check in my book and see if I am due to do the oil/filter any time soon which is when I will stick them on

You can change them without dropping the oil Lumpy...The right hand one do on the side stand. For the left hand one stick it on paddock stand. You will get a bit of oil coming out but it is minimal. The lines will have a residual amount of oil in them anyway which will still leak out weather you drop the oil or not.

Just have some rags/towels/rugby shirts handy to mop up the spills.

Don't forget the small rubber O rings at each end...Just swap them over on to the replacement lines... The cooler end will normally come out with the line when you disconnect it, the engine end sometimes stays in the hole rather than coming away with the line.

It will leak without them...

Found it when stripping the bike down and thought nothing of it, but now I'm reassembling it caught my attention. Is there a shock spacer as standard? It's 5mm.

That will be because Honda don't make them If you have the standard shock still, then stick it back in. It wont do any harm or you may want to put a couple of washers on instead. Take a couple of mm off.

I'll stick it back in, been there since I bought it anyway. I'll be dropping the forks a bit once they've been Roger'd so I'll maybe start messing around with different sizes then.

rode it properly for the first time in 3 months......
mainly dual carriageway riding, but it still good fun, I think there's something wrong with my speedo tho, at one point it jumped well into the 3 figure naughty zone, well it happened a few times.....
i'll have to keep an eye on it in future.......

Got a new Dunlop Sportsmart 2 front tyre today. Got back and gave the bike a wash and wax. My Yellow wheels look a bit grubby already. They are going to be a complete nightmare to keep clean. Soap and water is not enough for these so a spray on wheel cleaner will be needed in the future for quick rinse down. I love Bilts AutoWheel but I can't really justify the price for that. So I think a 5l Surfex HD will have to be on the cards which is a superb all round cleaner and degreasent. Good value for money too as it's never used neat and watered down. I used poorboys Blackhole on the paintwork including the frame, forks etc. I didn't take any pics. Come the beginning of Summer I shall have to get a rear tyre. I'm still undecided on which to get. Maybe a Qualifier 2.

Carl apply some good wax to clean wheels. Mine as you know are white and with washing after every ride and waxing after every 5 times they keep quite good. GT 85 once a week too. Always look pretty good.

Qualifier 2's are good, but they need changing every 2k on the rear.
