I'm pretty sure my storm needs a new sprocket and chain set.
I'm a bit nervous about fitting the joining rivet - what do I need to be looking for etc?
Do they all come with a 'hollow tip rivet link' ?
Reason I ask this is I gave seen something called a AFAM easy riv chain tool

Not all rivet links are hollow, so your tool might not work.
if joining a solid shank link, you need to hammer against something solid. Measure the width between the adjacent links, and rivet until the rivet link is the same thickness, checking that it doesn't bind as you get closer to the measurement you need.

The Afam is ok, though having never done the job before I wasn't convinced of its flaring ability. I bought a breaker and riveter kit from Wemoto and tried again, the end result isn't too different but I did manage to bend the Afam, and it flared the very tip more than by the link plate itself. Maybe it needed a bit more, but like I say it was already bending out of shape. With the full kit the pins measure identically to the rest on the chain, and the quality seems good for the price.

I also put one link on too tight before even flaring the tips, so go a bit at a time! I am pretty good at splitting chains now though

Or take it into a friendly bike shop to rivet beforehand. The chain will go on as one complete piece if you undo the left hanger. Remove wheel, loosen swingarm nut, remove the allen bolt from the bottom of the hanger and slide it off slightly.I'm a bit nervous about fitting the joining rivet

As Carl says..
If you squeeze the sideplate too little or too much, you can distort the o ring or it could be too loose.
You could use a split pin link and then ride it to the garage to get them to do it.
Split pin goes on closed side first , direction of travel,on upper chain run.."a fish swimming in the water..."
Get someone to show you how then get a riveter/breaker.

Note to avoid having to re-bleed the clutch, remove or tie back the clutch lever before removing the sprocket cover.
