I know its been done before, but if yours has no ill effects you might be on to something

no problem il get a few pics of it. honestly changed the bike when it hits about 6.5 k it pulls like a train without any drawbacks below that.

The noise will make you think it's performing better, but just like loud cans it ain't necessarily so.

ay it would say a dyno would tell the truth...seat of the pants dyno has my plugs running a nice light brown now instead of the dark colour they used to be..iv a little night time run (test area) i use and its now poking the front wheel up a lot easier over a bit of overbanding that i hit around 7k with throttles wide open..il like to dyno it just to see it in numbers but putting my spare lid back to back with it the same evening its sharper.

flip side of the coin is maybe my bike was missing this power just, and the drilled lid let it get to where it should have been running lol

Just to clarify this will be an on going project & am not expecting any horse power gains yet but am thinking of introducing a discrete cold air supply if all goes well.

The overall plan is to remove the front of the airbox & see how it runs. Then look for a 1000cc or there about carburetted ram air induction sports bike e.g. early Blackbird & look into grafting the front of the Bbirds air box on to the VTR airbox & plumb in the intake pipework. Simple

I don't think it'll fit on a VTR but am hoping it will fit under the Varadero's fairing as its crazy huge

The idea is to introduce small changes & test each idea. Rather than build it & find out it's hopeless & not have a clue what part is causing the problem

Just been for a very small ride (15 miles) to see if the lid has given me any issues & to be honest there isn't much to report.

Under 5000rpm all's good/normal, not too sure if there's a slight improvement to acceleration, but there is a little more induction roar. Not much tbh though.

Cruising home at 5000rpm in top I can feel a very slight/mild fluctuation, not as bad as a lean surge but I can feel something, loss of top end maybe

I didn't do any drag starts to the red line, but will keep it on for another ride hopefully in the week
