go into windows check invite icon and look again - mine came up with "available" button to start the upgrade.
It was on a new laptop with all drivers / updates in place and went pretty smooth - I work in IT and am very cynical of OS upgrades but was actually a bit impressed as windows 8 is PANTS !!!
Just upgraded mine this morning.
All happened smoothly and so far it's working perfectly.
Much better than 8.1 first thing I noticed was the lack of silly side bars which kept jumping in every time I moved the mouse too quick.

My new ride is a bit of a Howler and I love to make her Squeal
I was going to do it this weekend, but read today that MS has now changed the basic solitaire game so that it brings up adverts unless you pay £9.99 a year. The ads are 15 or 30 seconds long, full screen, and cant be skipped.
I don't play solitaire, but I strongly object to MS bringing in a new 'free' operating system that will end up feeling like Android, where everything is apparently free, but you realise it'll spam you with ads until you pay up. I don't want advertisers being able to lock out my PC with 15 or 30 second ads for crap.
Ahh, so when people say, it's free, where's the catch??
There's the catch - mandatory upgrades.
MS will wait 6 months until they have the majority of people on W10, then they'll bang out an update that'll be so infuriatingly annoying spamming everyone with desktop advertising it'll force everyone to pay a subscription.
My theory is that they will draw everyone in with the free operating system upgrade fanfare and a few months down the line they will do what they have done with their office products and offer an annual subscription based licence.
I'm not sure that I fancy upgrading at this point in time if I'm being honest.
I might install it as a virtual machine just to have a look at it though.
I'm not sure an OS will go subscription based but they will suck you into the cloud more and throw more gadgets at you to entice you in. Your data is worth more

Please do tell us what you're finding that's better with W10 over W8.1
mine is not here yet, but they have said they are doing it slowly so everyone gets it without any problems.
they also said they would email when ready.
there must be some sort of catch, but what do you do.
if you stay the same, do you get left behind like I did because I could not upgrade my internet explorer on XP so a lot of things did not load properly
