There might be a good outcome with sharing a garage.
How often do you need a lathe, welder, milling machine?
They're very useful when you want to spend an hour or two on that machine, but it's hard to justify when you only use it 1% or less of your workshop time.
So having a shared machine shop where you can also share secure bike storage and on the occasional situation where having a spar pair of hands is useful....
And as long as it's not just one person doing the work for the other, I could see a point.

I'd put all my tools and equipment in lockable toolboxes and cases, though!
