Now TV / IPTV / VOD / PLex

Post by Miztaziggy »

I'm fairly 'up to date' when it comes to technology / computers etc but I just can't seem to find out much information on this stuff and it's baffling me.

We currently have Talktalk TV and it's costing about £50 a month for Sky channels added to our package.

I saw an advert on facebook for this Now TV box that comes with the Plex app and a subscription to IPTV/VOD for a year. It cost £50 for the box and £90 for the year.
Apparently this gives all Sky channels inc sports and movies, plus video on demand to watch series / films just like Netflix with all the up to date stuff.

I think found on e-bay a Now TV box with a 24 month subscription included for £85, apparently to a similar IPTV service and VOD too.

I'm unsure if this works as it should or if it's like Kodi and keeps getting cut off / losing sources.

Does anyone have this?

Does it work as advertised?

Is it worth the money?

Seems to be a pay-as-you-go scheme from Sky according to this review - depends how much you watch the gogglebox

Customer reviews - some seem to say Sky try and snare you into subscribing...

Thanks Wicky, but these are 'standard' Now TV boxes. I think you'd buy one of these and then have to pay Sky a £30 or £40 a month subscription.

The thing I am talking about is a Now TV box like this but it's been hacked and Plex has been installed as an App. That allows you to subscribe to IPTV / VOD services for very little (max £90 a year) and get all the sky channels through some pirate server in France or something.

I think you need to read up on here http://www.world-of-satellite.com/forum ... -Satellite
I went down the firestick/kodi route and agree its pants trying to find a good feed.
If you just want it for your phone put Mobdro on it that works well for sports etc

plex iptv servers for hookey channels seem quite a runaround with constant updating to find a working channels. Not sure if you pay pirates for a years subscription and it goes tits up what kind of guarantee they'd offer :problem: . Maybe worth a punt in paralell with your existing setup for a while to see how relaible it is before relying soley on it.
