The Atom is getting picked up today  but i have to be realistic, i hate my current job and want to change it, i wont get anything as well paid but i don't care i need less stress. I have cut my workshops down to 2 so can focus and have a new Manager starting in 2 weeks. He will be a help and i can actually do my job. We have a fantastic new temp in doing the Admin and is the spitting image of Amanda Donahue ( remember her guys with Ollie Reid ?). She has been here a week and seems great. Things are better but the whole 200 e mails a day if ludicrous so say the least.

Decided to get a wee run out on de Storm.

Got home, was talking to me neighbour, who then pointed out: '' did you know you have a massive wood screw in yer back tyre'? Flush and straight in the middle of the tyre, right down to the head.

Aww sheeit - nope, never noticed. I must have picked it on the return home. But, I said I'm just gonna leave it in there and ride it till I get the money together for a new back tyre (as it's really low on tread)

At least I know the Goop works. The tyre didn't lose pressure after I rode the bike again. Instead of taking the screw out (already pulled a nail out of it this year), I might take the dremel and grind the head off the screw, leaving the screw thread in the rubber and in the gap between rubber and wheel.

If I take the screw out when the bike is stationary, the goop won't work as the wheel isn't spinning to force the stuff to seal the hole.

Maybe I could leave the screw head in, and go round the tyre implanting another 50 so's I could have a studded snow tyre?

Erm....perhaps not.

Aside from that, the sun was out, I washed the bike, the bones didn't feel too bad, and I got a little scoot about on it.
If it ain't broken...f*ck about with it until it is.

MISTER STU - How do ya do!!? Long time no speaky.!!

Nope, yer right....watching one man plug another mans rear doesn't sound good, does it?....and then to follow it with he's a tight bugger....that just made it worse.

I'm gonna grind the head off the screw, and leave the shank in the tyre. It (in theory) can't unscrew itself from the carcass if the bike is on the road, and the Goop (in my theory) should form a seal round it to slow the transference of said shank working it's way further in. I'm going on the premise that the goop will travel up the root and pitch of the screw, and form a bond preventing the shank from moving any further.

The tyre is badly needing changed anyway, but with the health the way it is I'm not gonna be covering hundreds of miles with it. The odd jaunt now and again shouyld see it last until the sheckles are there for a replacement.

I cannot thank you enough for the mega kind offer of being willing to travel up with a plug kit. I have looked at them before in Halfrauds and Amazon, and thought ''yeah...good idea''...but them saw this Goop stuff advertised.....watched the videos on YouToob, and saw what they did with car tyres and bike tyres (drilled into the tyres MANY times), and then rode away lickety split! - Tyre still inflated!

They say if you get a ''puncture'' at 70 mph, and the object flings back out, you only feel a tiny wobble as the Goop rushes to fill and seal the hole. You don't get a rapid deflation and are (in theory) meant to be able to keep riding - although I'd be a tad paranoid with it happening at that speeds.

Electronic handshakes to you and best regards to your S.O

Here's the stuff I use, with a demonstration of how to apply.

Bike usually takes one bottle, with a 50/50 ratio - half in the back, and half in the front.

Take out valve, deflate tyre, attach Goop bottle and squeeze in half. Remove bottle, re-insert valve and reinflate tyre.

Repeat for the other tyre, and that';s it - ride away.

Unlike other liquid tyre sealants, Goop STAYS liquid, and is user friendly when it comes to changing tyres - it just washes away.

If the bike sits unused for a while (like mine did), the Goop will tend to settle at the bottom....and when you ride away, it affects the balance of the tyre fopr a few hundred yards (until the Goops gets to temperature and spreads around the rotating tyre again)

It's about a tenner a bottle, and my tyres will never be without the stuff again.

(can't get the video to appear here like Wicky just did....tried inserting various embed things between the given [youtube] doodah.

As you may know, I had a little court-induced rest for 56 days recently.
Served my time, got license back 2nd Feb. I checked on DVLA check your endorsements page to make sure I gave the correct details to insurers.
When you get a ban all the insurances stop, and you have to take out a new one when it ends.
It just showed the expected info.
Insured car, no probs.
Insured commuter bike to start 9th Feb, because I still had a monthly train ticket running until 8th.
No probs there.

Yesterday, insurance was due for renewal with me as a named driver on the wife's minibus/my track day transport. They asked for proof of the length of ban, so I sent them a screenshot of the DVLA check you endorsements page.
But it now said that I needed to reapply for my license.
Odd, I thought, the court posted it back to me after the hearing.

So I gave DVLA a call.
Ah, they said, the court made a mistake, you need to reapply for a license if the ban is more that 55 days.
Mine was 56, so they shouldn't have posted it back to me.

Ok, I said, I'll send in an application and another 65 pound fee to get a copy of the license I already have sent to me....

But then I was told that the old one wasn't valid any more, so I can't drive or ride until the replacement one arrives. They didn't mention it, so I asked to be sure.
Lucky I did, had I had an accident or incident in the interim I would have had no license or insurance!

Oh, well, back on the train for three weeks.
Lucky I hadn't booked them to arrange a pissup in a brewery for me.......

You couldn't make it up, could you.
Lucky it's snowing and I have nowhere to go.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
