second gear keeps going into neutral on the upshift....
every now and again when i go to change up, it goes into neutral - to avoid this i'm having to be very heavy with the change.
also, how clunky should changes up be?
i'm worrying about nowt no doubt.
cheers

They all do that sir!!.
One tried and tested way of helping that I have found on both of my storms is to lower the height of the gear lever by about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. This gives you a more positive up lift of the gear lever when changing gear.
If you have not fiddled with the controls before, look at the rod that connects the lever to the gear box. Undo the lock nut at each end (one left hand thread and one right hand thread) then turn the rod in your fingers and the gear lever will raise or lower.
Another tip! Wear you normal riding boots when doing this so you can keep trying the lever out to get the perfect height.

The best way I find is to change quite early into 2nd gear, make use of that huge torque, don't ride it like you would a in-line 4, you've nothing too gain by revving it hard in 1st and even less if you hit neutral I think that I usually change up into 2nd at no more than 20mph, that way (as Cupasoop) I never hit a false neutral and it does away with that nasty crunch, hence less wear on the gearbox

gear change
I agree Chris change up slightly early and its a lot smoother i only pull the clutch lever in a bit also, as fireman said if you fiddle with the linkage rod and raise it a little it helps as you dont have to pull it up as far.But saying that i have had gilles sets on for a couple of years now and they seem to have helped as there so adjustable.
