Put a bit of lube around the rubbers, I use red rubber grease, just a smear...Get the front one in, the rear should now be at an angle...push it down & dont be shy with the push...Simples...

A touch of lube does help, though I am old school and just use a bit o' spit, as it works just fine

And make sure the clamps are undone enough. In case your wondering there is a hole in the plastic cowl on the front left through the V in the frame above the rad. This is for your screwdriver to fit through when tightening the front clamp.

When taking them off or pushing them on, try to avoid touching the link bar.
It's easy to mess up the balancing.

For putting them on, get your whole body weight over them. They take a surprising amount of force, especially if the rubbers are old and have hardened.

You can poke a flat blade screwdriver down at the front of the rear head's cam cover, and tweak the rubber out to slide the carb mouth past.
You can't get the rubber all of the way round, but if you get the rearmost bit the rest follows.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
