Pimped
Re: Pimped
It most likely is just a coincidence the fork seal blew, fingers crossed it is anyway,

Re: Pimped
Well ,
The saga continues, seems that the right fork upper tube has a slight kink in it.
This is why the seal let go .
Just my luck eh?
Have another one on its way from the States.
Only problem is it will take about a week so the bike is laid up for now.
At least when it gets here I will have a great bike to ride.
Cheers

Re: Pimped
had that happen to me before following the purchase of used (CBR900RR) forks. It sucks, but at least you identified the problem early on and are looking after it...

Re: Pimped
Oh no, that's not what you wanted I'm sure. It's the chance you take when buying 2nd hand parts I suppose. Unlucky I guess.
You'll be aright once you get the good part fitted, this hiccup will be distant memory
Chris.

Re: Pimped
I'm not upset by this setback.
All part of the process.
I just want the bike to be as good as possible.
Still enjoyed doing this and have learn't more about the bike as I did it.
Next time I buy a set of forks I will inspect them before paying.
Lesson learnt.
I bought them from a guy in Queensland on Gumtree, sort of like rolling the dice at a Casino ! so it was impossible for me to check them out , they looked fine to me before I fitted them.
Now I am waiting for the new part to arrive so I will do some other stuff that I have been putting off.
Cheers

Are sintered ceramic harsh on discs?
missing the noise, not the vibes. However never say never!
Re: Pimped
Fork leg is in,
Calipers fitted , bars adjusted . Spent ages on the bars getting them even, a ride will tell.
Trial fit of the radial Triumph master that matches tha calipers.
Had to move the Kill Switch inboard to make the master fit. I figure brakes are more important than a Kill/ starter switch.
Now I need to work out how to mount the brake reservoir properly.
Mental note, source a switch that looks better than the standard one.
Bloody O.C.M.D, all I want to do is try the forks out properly.
Looks funny I know , but it is my bike and it works for me.
More pics to follow.
Cheers from down under.

Re: Pimped
No, they are said to be very easy on discs. They are said deposit some material on the rotors when bedding in. The wear very well and produce very little in the way of brake dust.bigtwinthing wrote:Stephan wrote:this is what I call quality packing :-)
