I lost a very dear friend 18 months ago due to accident that wasn't his fault.I was even a marshall at his funeral where more than 150 bikers showed up.That gives you time to reflect how lucky you may have been over the years. At 72 this year I think my days on the bike are up. :( :(

What a load of shite. If you are 72 and you die in a bike accident what better way to go? 75 in a hospice unable to breathe? Last year, just before my 65th birthday I had an accident and nearly died. It just makes riding more important. I need to fit as much in as possible before I lose the capacity.

If your still enjoying it, why stop now? I could understand if you had when your friend had his accident more so but not at your fine age Sir.

My Dad only passed his bike test a couple of years ago, aged 70, and despite his ailments, gets on on his bikes as much as his body will allow. I hope I can do the same at his age.

Keep riding. I am 66 feel 76 and look 56😯. I bought the storm to try something different after 20 yrs on a Commando. Ive only done a couple of hundred miles but boy am i glad i did buy a vtr. I might have stopped for good but this bike has revitalized me. I still love the old Norton but i cant see me putting too many miles on her this year. Why dont you look at something a bit more sedate, or is that sacrelige! Dont quit..

Yeh stop riding, get off the bike, cross the road and get hit by a bus instead. Any one of us could die at any moment. There's no point in worrying about it and if one does drop down dead what's there to worry about as you won't know any diffrent.....or will we. I guess it depends on ones outlook on death and the afterlife and if we do float up and see ourselves then wer'e not even dead. Just a new life in another dimension, which begs the question, what is death. So all in all it's worrying about nothing. The Western outlook on death is very negative, I like how they look upon it in some other countries.

I didn't get much done today as everything was all wet and it was overcast. :( I have done some research into doing something intresting with my wheels though. :P My protracter turned up so I can work out the angles for my link pipes. I'm beggining to wonder whether it will be worth investing in a pipe bender, buy some straight tube and build my own. But then there theres the flaring of the ends too.

Be sad to see you stop riding Al. As the others have said it can happen to any of us at any time. I’ve lost mates on bikes and lost my eighteen year old son, who had ridden since he was nine, not to bikes but to a heart defect! If it still gives you pleasure, indulge yourself. If you’ve had enough then be true to yourself.
Hope it all works out for you mate

Age is only a numbe mate. You managed to reach 72 so you should be happy with that 😂
Seriously though I suppose we all get to a point. Pity to see another member selling a storm. I quite like yours.

Good luck mate. Personally I cant imagine riding much past 60

fabiostar wrote: Tue Mar 27, 2018 9:24 am today just like yesterday i sat and looked at my pair.. let me explain. saturday on my way into Belfast on the M2 i came on something i hope to never see again. a rider lying in the middle of the second lane, his bike scattered over the other 4 lanes. ambulance crew working on him but no movement from him that i could see :confused :confused ..

so iv been looking at my pair and thinking, wtf are you doing Robert at this age, honestly has made me think a bit...

god bless you lad whoever you are and hope it turns out well.. strange the things that shake you up but this has a little.
that's never a good sight rob, i remember the aftermarth of CK's accident in spain. i didn't ride for 5 months, just lost my passion for it. it was a the same for most of us on that day.
but i see riding as my therapy. leave in a bad mood, come home with a massive grin. it's not all about speed and risk. i've been riding with a friend of late, and he's a plodder, but it's opened my eyes some what, i still like the rush of speed, but it's not the be all and end all.
who ever that fella was, i hope he pulled through....

I've owned and ridden bikes since i passed my test in 1962.I think i am using age and accidents as an excuse really.when the real reason is financial.I rent a lock up from the council and it's just gone up to £86:90 per month and what with tax,ins and other various costs involved and only being on a state pension something has to give, but i'll keep it as long as i can.

It was an incredibly hard decision but something I have been toying with and then when fabio did it and another I had to copy so I purchased some very good nick early blade yokes, forks and clipons. Just need to find a nice mudguard.

Yea mate. Will have a look around and see what Is out there. Sale of yokes and my own forks will fund what I bought which is helpful
