Jokes aside, the silly lady involved pulled a U-turn from a parking space directly infront of me. With no time to do anything except hit brakes and horn at same time i ploughed into her door having scrubbed most of my 30+MPH off.....hit her at approx 5MPH or less, bounced off her car and landed on my feet( wasnt hurt other than a few pulled muscles etc ).
To look at u wouldnt think the bike was damaged too badly, apon closer inspection tho there are a few things that need putting right.
Catalogued visual damage on bike(done by myself) : -
- Damage/scuffing to fairing which is also pushed closer to the frame on right hand side(bent mounting bracketry?).
- Scuffing to headlight unit .
- Screen split.
- Wing mirror mount bent and casing scuffed.
- Handle bar end weight scuffed.
- Right indicator lense cracked and working intermittently.
- Right hand engine casing scuffed.
- Right hand rearset has fracture in corner of ally by the footpeg.
- Exhaust pipe mounting tab snapped.
- Steering off centre and doesnt feel quite right.
- there are 2 small dinks in the tank.
My bike was f*ckin mint before this and to look at it the scuffs and scratches are minor.
That didnt stop the repair garage finding other stuff like a dink in the wheel, b**gered exhaust assembly amongst others.
The estimate on a bike that doesnt even look crashed???
£3687.60.......thats parts and £300 labour.
the wheel? over £400
The tank? over £200
Decals from honda? £179(tank)...£129(seat unit)
exhaust ass? ...£458
cant be as*ed to list the rest but u get the picture.
.....for what was a minor thing it sure has turned out an expensive excursion for her insurance company, Rider Support Services are on the case. They are brilliant, i gave them the details of accident, they advised that because of how it happened it is almost certainly 100% in my favour, they arranged for my bike to be picked up and taken for a 2nd estimate and in the meantime have arranged for a new bike for me to ride around on.( all claimable on the 3rd parties insurance ). now they have everything i just sit back let them do the running around while i wait for a cheque.
The bike i have got?......a spanking new Bandit 650 '07reg with 750miles on the clock, indefinately until the claim is sorted.
do miss my storm tho and hope to get it back from the ins co after they write it off which is almost certainly going to happen.

anyway, i will keep yall updated as this progresses......
ride safe peeps. VeetyR(john'o)
