MPG- a reality....

Post by VeetyR »

I got a whopping 59miles before the RLOD this week....that is just taking the pis* IMO, its not like i have been rashin it everywhere either as the weather hasnt permitted it.

Think i need to get it looked at as this wouldnt even get me to brighton from home.(60miles!!! FFS)

Anyone else experienced MPG on such a poor scale??

Nope! That sounds like you have leak/carb issues.

I know, but i have checked all round it and cant see anything externally and there is no smell of petrol either.

The only thing i can think of other than an internal carb issue is that i have recently changed my viper cans for some microns......that said they are both race pipes and i never had such bad fuel economy with the other pipes on.

Also if it was the carbs wouldnt it affect the running of the bike?? coz its sweeeet....no issues and pulls like a train still. :?

Mate, I only have the digital style of riding (full On or full Off) and have BMC airfilter and pipes, you should still be looking at 80 before RLOD . Have you altered the jets?

nah not tinkered with nowt.........actually come to think about it....it might even just be the amount of petrol i get for my money now.

When the light comes on it used to take a tenner to fill it back up.......I did put a tenner in it last time but in the last week petrol has rocketed to £1.03 per litre around here......maybe that could be it??

am i clutching at straws here or what?

When you think about it you are still getting nearly 30MPG for your tenner, at £1.00 a litre from a full tank (about £14 ish)I am only getting 90 miles before RLOD so it sounds pretty normal.

Got as low as 79 miles before light.
Reason, took off me Art's and put back on standards after dynojetting and dyno set up.
Cheaper in long run by buying race cans. Which i did just last week, MPG back to about 40 ish
:D :D
