Done a few hundred miles on the Speed Triple now and am slowly taking to it.
Lovely motor, loads of low down grunt and a bit like the VTR, in so much as, no real need for gear changing. Difference here is that the VTR would hunt a little and be almost willing you to crack the throttle wide open,Triple is a lot happier to tootle.This makes a hell of a difference around town.
On the open road, the lack of wind protection keeps speeds respectable (about 85 max) which is no bad thing. Handling is good but not as inspiring as the VTR. It's been a long time since I have owned a bike with bars, not clip ons. Brand new rear tyre has rather large chicken strips...one will have to get rid of them in the summer.
Build quality is exellent, my bike has covered 16 000 and comes up like new, beter than my previous Truimphs.
Overall definately recommend one so far if you are having any thoughts!
Now here's the best bit.....you've got to admit these bikes have a bit of an appeal about them right? I was out today, popped in to town, wearing black lid, black visor, black trendy codura jacket, jeans and plain black Spidi boots. Got a lot of smiles, looks and waves.. yes waves from mostly kids but a couple of adults as well.
In all my years of bike ownership the VTR was the only bike that really turned heads because of the noise but the Trumpet seems to be a well recognised machine...nice one.
Got home told missus, she pissed herself laughing. My oldest son said he did not want to be seen with me when he is on his bike!!!
