Well I've never ridden anything so modern, so they were certainly a bit different. Biggest differences were that they both felt extremely light, the brakes were immense and they had very slick gearboxes too. I'd also forgot what a naked felt like and once you hit a ton on the street you just hit a brick wall of wind resistance.
The triple engine is lovely though, pulls well in high gears yet can scream and shoot off into the distance in the lower ones. Both sounded good on stock exhausts. Didn't really get a chance to throw them round any real bends, but I'm not convinced I'd have that much more fun to make it worth spending so much! The grunt and the noise of the 'storm makes even normal riding so much fun. No way I can afford them anyway, so really was just to get a taste of new stuff. Plus my girlfriend wouldn't last 5 mins on the back of either, I don't think I could bring myself to track them, and they're not very practical.

So yeah, very good, very quick to get used to, but not for me just yet. Maybe when they're cheaper and I have more space.

I think that's true, you can get much better and more capable bikes, but you just end up riding them much faster to have the same fun!

And there is a great satisfaction humiliating people on a 13yr old bike that the don't recognise

i try and ride almost every new bike thats comes out (they seem desperate for money the dealers) Most IL4,s are so fast these days but are a little soulless imho. I did like the RS4 and the Ducati Multistrada a lot.

Iam keeping my Storm as every time i start it i love it, every time i ride it i want another tankful or fuel. Ive had lots of bikes, but nowt has given a 100% grin like my Storm.

Today I let some old bloke ride my bike, he gave it a right thrashing, too- into the rev limiter in top....
He told me I'd got the jetting right on the settings I rode in with.

Then he charged me £45 for the privilege.

Nope, the last one was the baseline run; this one was to see what difference the large airbox made over the previously enlargened one.

busy day to day, with the help of the jeckel, fitted some bling to the pineapple express, asv levers, Armstrong wavy front discs, hel lines, sp2 calipers, brembo pads and motul racing brake fluid.
the jeckel or snapper as I now call him, had a couple of incidents whilst tightening up the front disc bolts....
but being the spanner monkey he is, he sorted them out without drama....
we just need to bleed the brake/clutch tomorrow, then put the fairing back on, bobs your uncle and fannys your aunt.
the jeckel went home a very tired little bunny, that'll teach him for staying up late......

Rode to Dorset to have a 100 mile blast on my mates new bike! A 2011 Honda Crosstourer 1200. Wow i was impressed tbh. Its very tall, but so smooth. It does handle well but feels odd going round roundabouts as its so tall. Much faster that i was expecting, and so, so comfy.
He hated the Storm!!! said it went well but said it "felt like it was going to self distruct until it gets to 6000" "Oh and the brakes are shite" the cheeky bstard. It was old for him, he changes his bike every 2 yrs. By the end of the ride i was chucking it about a bit, and we blew a GS 1200 Beemer away ( with out having to stand up on the pegs ) it averaged about 41mpg too, and we weren't hanging about got to 136 on the speedo and its a Digital so maybe accurate. It felt fast. He did say the storm did pull well all the way to the red line and was surprised how fast it was. He was very impressed with the handling. He had a SX 1000 last and said the Storm handled better!!!!! yahoo

oh and my Storm has just clocked over 13000 miles today, and still going great

See the Storms are still good old bikes for what they are. Back in their day they would have been the best.

Yes I snapped two bloody brake disc domed hex bolts while tightening them up. Snapped one and wasn't happy so snapped another They are made of cheese like the gene cap Lucky for me a small screwdriver and a hammer knocked (rotated) the snapped threads around just enough so I could get some pliers on and get the rest out.

That's why your only meant to use them once then replace !! Tho I reuse mine :-)

I wouldn't mind lloydie, but i'm the one who snaps, break, rounds off, chew's up, bends or otherwise destroys things, I don't need any help where that's concerned.....
I might swap the bolts out for some ti ones I was keeping for the blade front end, try and get some more when I do that.

I'll swap you for Gold. Did you strip them down and remove the rubber seals before putting in the sonic cleaner? I wondering if the cleaner will damage rubber Then again it probably wont do any more damage than a bit of grit sliding around in there.
