Also rebuilt and bled through the rear brake with new pads and sexy HEL lines

Love that pic of the brake line
It's starting to come together nicely

have you considered painting your oil cooler and radiators black, frosts/eastwood make a excellent satin black paint specially for radiators, it's a touch expensive but a great product.

lloydie,
why do you have CK's engine in your garage? are you checking to see if it will go in a VTR frame?

It's a gen 2 engine that we're taking the heads off and fitting them to his gen1 engine (10-15bhp increase) along with bigger throttle bodies and modded exhaust .
It won't fit in the storm without some mental mods to the frame .

mental mods to the frame
There's pills for that

That's a big increase. I take it that cams are more extreme in the gen 2 then?

Cam profile and porting is different and larger valves ,
The gen one has round ex port and the gen 2 has oval where it meets the header pipe so that's why you need to mod the exhaust too .
I'm trying to talk ck into doing the big bore too as that will take it to 1080cc and with the other mods get it near 150bhp with dialled in cams !! (Just want ck to sh1t himself when he rides it )
We need to get on the Dyno first to get a base run for comparison .

I think he only doing it so he still has a advantage on the straights on the track as my engine build has him shaking in his little boots !!!

that will be a nice bhp boost for the gen1 ape............ just need to make sure the connectors and wiring are ok, no point in big BHP if the fuel pump connector is intermittent

I'm on a later model so already got black rads but they are a little flakey at the front. I'm going to scrub them back and respray with some high temp spray paint, unless I'd be particularly better off using this Eastwood spray?

I was going to leave the oil cooler but may as well get it sprayed up while I'm at it!

Well I guess you need to balance things out a bit to make it a fair competition. :plainsmile

I know there is a common oversize kit which gets Apes to 1060cc, wasn't familiar with 1080 unless it's a one-off kit. Anyhow, having done some reading on said 1060 kits, they really wake up the engine (with gains well above the expected 6% gain from displacement, the added intake velocity really helping torque production) .... wish someone made something similar for the VTR........

big bore is not easy but possible, http://www.thiel-motoren.de/, or you can find somebody local who is able to do wet liners. I am fine with 1000cc :-)

Just for interest, I know guy with TL1000S with 1080, who has 138 bhp, with TLR cams and some other mods.
