always best to have matching tyres.....
I've heard nothing but good things about the sportsmart 2's
I nearly got a pair myself last year.

I'm going to fit new tyres to mine, got new PR2's on at moment but got a buyer for them, want something stickier, torn between Metzeler M7RR's and Sportsmart 2's, Dunlops are a bit more expensive though.
I haven't tried either tyre but get the feeling the Metzeler won't last as long, although can't find many reviews to say how long either are lasting.

I'm running a pair of 2's, they run under pressure well which is good on track but also gives good grip in slippery conditions without overheating, but the white line like a bar steward when under by 6-8psi.
Worth it for the grip and feel, but I'm looking forward to inflating back to normal temps once the icy weather is over.

They last well.....

You can run them down to low 20's psi on track, If I get them I think I'd experiment with pressures on the road but start with 35fr 38rear and see what they're like. I always imagined to be able to run so low on track they'd have a really stiff sidewall, sure I've read somewhere that the first ones were quite harsh but the 2's have better feel, will have to research a little more.

Broke the chain on the TRX and got that off, cleaned the swing-arm and greased/fitted the new linkage, cleaned the rear wheel, put new sprocket on, new ally sprocket bolts and fitted rim-tape, checked Fazer hugger fitment and all looks good

My turn to be of help.

Taken from the firms site I bought mine
Dunlop Sportsmart 2

Dunlop’s new technologically advanced tyre for sports bikes, delivering comfort, superior handling, optimised wet and dry grip.

Dunlop has changed construction of both front and rear tyres.

The Sportsmart 2 is Dunlop’s first road tyre to use Steel Jointless Belt (JLB) casing construction along with Jointless Tread (JLT) and Multi Tread Compound Technology (MT).

The key benefits;

The JLT construction is one floating ply, replacing two breakers in the tread making it lighter and helping it give great steering response.

Being lighter than the previous Sportsmart makes the steering more responsive. Dunlop’s testing shows the Sportsmart 2 has 23% faster steering response time when compared to its predecessor.

The ‘reverse V direction’ tread pattern gives improved drainage over the Sportsmart. The new shoulder compound gives improved wet and dry grip.

The introduction of a hard centre compound enables high mileage, increased riding stability and even wear, helping maintain performance, extend tyre life and reduce vibration.

Sportsmart had NTEC technology, same as dunlop track tires, making tire stiff and stable at low pressure on track when riding hard. Sportsmart2 has not, but should be more friendly and responsive on road, and bit worse on track.

Ive been running the Metzler M5s on the SP all last summer. I think they are great, the harder you push them the better they get and their wet feel is one of the best I've tried so far. The New 7RR is an updated version and according to the Meztler site ,it has better handling and grip than its predecessor. So I'll be trying a new front pretty soon. I love the Dunlop grip when they are new but when they are half worn I find they can let go really quickly with out warning whilst the Meztlers are pretty predictable right down to the wear markers
I've manage about 4k from the M5s so if the 7RR is anywhere near that I'll be happy.

finally managed to wash the pineapple express..........
I also met luca954, really nice guy, I have to confess to being a complete twonk tho, I went to start the bike this morning, wanting to show luke/luca954 how the full system sounds, only for nothing to happen, lights on dash, but that's it, checked the kill switch, tried using a jump pack, nothing, checked all the fuse's, they were all good, even took off the rear fairing to make sure the 30amp main fuse hadn't blown, that was all good, all be it the connectors were a bit furry, I clean them with contact cleaner.
but still nothing, so i'm thinking a dodgy kill switch or side stand switch..... :(
then the penny dropped...........the bike was in gear with the side stand down......doh!!!!!

Rodney you plonker.......
as soon as luke left, carl arrived, better late than never....
spent the next couple of hours going over carls bike, getting it ready for it's mot. fingers crossed it'll be sorted tomorrow.....
i'm still reeling from the being in gear and not starting..... :(
