I think this technique damages the sale in the end. Because when it eventually goes up for sale peole wont take is seriously in case one changes their mind.

started putting my HDJ needle-jet-equipped carbs back together today.... was unable to finish the job as I am missing the little springs that go on the underside of the needle retainers in the slides..... did a test mount of my custom Main air jets (FP had removed the stock pressed-in ones and tapped the holes to accept a main jet, thereby allowing some adjustment via different size holes), machined to allow me to hook up my Flo-Commander and everything fits....... also installed the adaptors for the pilot circuit Flo-Commander too..... giving me a lot of latitude for adjustment at the turn of a screwdriver (this in addition to my Jack Flash extended fuel screws).....

me too
FWIW, I also knife-edged the throttle plates (leading edges) and ground the extending part of the retaining screws (used red loctite to hold them in place).... e-mailed Roger about it and he said I shouldn't have any (problematic) issues from it.... if it all works according to plan, I will pick up a little bit from a few different sources (HDJ, knife-edging, wheels, some minor weight loss.....)

yes... also matched up the carb boots (which mate carbs to intake port) to the carb throat, reducing restriction and turbulence.......
