Rode it to work today which is rare- I usually cycle (about 7 miles, much of it along the river). When I parked up I noticed the alternator cover on the LHS was missing 8O :( . It could have been gone a while as I'd just taken the lower faring off (it was parked against a wall so I couldn't see that side when I did it). My left boot was oily but I checked the oil level & it's still fine having driven at least 10 miles or so with it gone, possibly a lot more.

Anyone got a spare??

am I wrong to assume you are running two different calipers together? (ie. one from VTR, the other from an SP-2) sorry, just curious.....

They are standard VTR callipers Mik.

You've done a good job on the Chris...well it will be them by the time you do the other one.

:) Oops I confused you there Micky. The guys are right, both standard calipers, just one is upside down.

Macdee, only used Brake Cleaner in a spray can, "Car Plan" IIRC. I think they, I mean the clean one, looks better than it actually is in the photo, that's digital photography for you :)
Keeping on top of servicing and cleaning them properly by removing them I'm sure helps in getting them back closer to as they were when new. Although I'm a fine one to talk, I've been meaning to do mine for ages. They didn't look to bad on the bike, it was only when removed I realised how dirty they were, and I try not to ride in the wet either.

Thanks guys for all your kind words

How much did you pay for a service kit for the calipers ?
They are quite expensive on ebay
