Good girl! Keep it up!
I can't believe more people don't use hospital admission as a starting point. People will go without for a week sometimes when they have to have surgery, then they leave hospital & get straight back on the sticks! Always amazes me, especially if they've been "trying" to give up.
So, I take it the drinking thing's not been going so well since we last chatted...

Well done Kaz. It can be done. My wife stopped for 6 years and Dad gave up his pipe after 60 years!
Not sure about the booze though. Trouble is its a bit like a good dentist who will freeze your gums a bit at a time, so you don't feel anything. When you've had "just the one" you don't notice the rest!
Till the next day of couse!

That's really brave of you giving up cigs and booze at the same time. I gave up the fags in '78 and the booze has all but given me up, even a glass of red wine or a single malt (my weakness) now results in a blinding migraine. But fortunately despite my advancing years I can still manage SEX

oh and riding my Storm which is nearly as good as sex.

however.. I will hold my hands up and plead guilty to actually drinking a bottle of red wine the other night
my youngest daughter has gone to Manchester to spend this week with her dad as it's half term.... so I thought i'd cook a nice cut of steak for mine and Pete's dinner.
picked up 2 pieces of sirloin.. to be served with mushrooms and a large green salad with crispy garlic croutons and a ceasar dressing... I managed to avoid temptation to pick up a bottle of wine whilst I was buying the steak.... but just before i was due to cook it.. I just really fancied a glass of red to wash my dinner down with
Well... the wine Pete brought back for me, i've had numerous times before... but when i first tasted it again.... wow... what a difference.... much more flavour.. it tasted like a different wine

i'm presuming my taste buds are coming back to life now after a week of no smoking.. and boy can i tell !!!!!!
anyway.. 1 glass turned into 2.. and 2 into 3 etc... but every mouthful was savoured and it took me 4 hours to drink 1 bottle... usually i'd have gone thru 2 bottles in that time ! And I never touched a ciggie either !!!!
I did feel soooo guilty the following morning.... but at least i didn't touch the smokes !!
I wish I'd known there was a party going on, I was up at Hebden Bridge for the weekend, I would have risked the migraine to drink some of your red wine to help with your resolve

maybe next time.

Kaz kicking both vices in a oner is sometimes the best way but if you have the odd drinking bender and still stay off the ciggys you are a winner in my book . Keep it up

Stick at it Kaz; well done!
I moved a car for someone the other day who smokes. Chr*st, I'd forgotten how bad it was to get in a smokers car having non smokers (like me) and company cars so no smoking in them etc. Stale tobacco smell is all pervading. This car reeked (a twenty years old girl/idjut) and it was just awful. I only moved it about a 100 metres but it felt as if it seeped into your clothes even in that short time. Bet she'll have fun trying to find a buyer for it at a later date!!!
Bet your handbag (!) too feels heavier with all the cash you're now accumulating too eh?
