yeah bet you bike is yelling out for some cans, and did you notice any difference (apart from the noise) in performance with your standard cans on compared to race

Well if it's a bank holiday, you're looking at May Day for the first one (excluding New Years Day of course and that wierd extra the Scots get to recover from Hogmany  )

Is October break too early? to organise? / late weather wise?

Get some nice crisp days in October break usually - get the bloody pumping in leathers anyway - lol

I'm up for it - do camping - Birthday back end of Oct too

Thats because up until the mid 60's Christmas day wasn't a holiday here, thats how we got Jan 2nd as a holiday.

See, you learn something new every day.

A southern Scotland meet sounds good early next year. I'm sure we'd all be happy to show you all around.

I dunno

Are you lot going to hibernate (or at least your bikes)? 8O

Easter indeed - tut!

FSM - You can pitch a tent, park a camper etc just about anywhere in Bonny Scotland - there's no law of trespass there unlike England.

Seen many on verges and pull ins along loch sides with pretty views.

The only issue would be ameneties - unless of course the toilets (if there are any) are left open all night.

You bet theres a difference (Doggit it was my bike a while back with the cans on I had made) without the cans it ran roughish with the usual carb fart on shut off and seemed to lose a lot of the top end power, with the cans it ran like a dream with pull right up to the limit. It was loud though :D

Trying to plan a Scotland trip going into Oct is a bit like planning to fail IMO. For most of us Southern residents the 3hr (ish) ride to the starting point at FSM's in the rain would put many off. If I could swap the Blade for a Triumph Sprint or 1200GS I would come along though

Need some proper touring kit to do winter 350 milers ad hoc. Its ok if you pick the weather days (I ride right through winter last 2 years without problems)

Just MO though from someone travelling from East Mids

Count me in!

I'd be well up for a Scotland meet! I've been quietly posting it on other threads, clearly my subliminal messages have gotten through!

Came down from Dumfries in the car today (had a wedding yesterday). I was going to slip up to the Hartside Inn when we passed Penrith, but the tops looked bleak so we didn't bother. Shame!

FSM I think Graeme was hinting at going this year, no biggy either way just think Scotland is best seen after cold and before Midge season.

Well,we had a good bike run, but didnt manage to do the Dalveen Pass, it'll wait to another time :)

We set off from here (near Kilmarnock),on to the A76 , through Kirkconnel and Sanquhar, onto the B797,( Mennock Pass) through Wanlockhead and Leadhills and out at Elvanfoot .

Mennock Pass

From there to Elvanfoot and down the B7076 to Moffat, then up to the Cafe at St Marys Loch, (cheers FSM ye beat me to the pics)
Must be popular route for North England ,loads of English guys on bikes :!:
p.s Mike, didnt see your question aboot camping opposite cafe 'till i got home sorry, i cant see a problem though, its only when campers leave bags of rubbish etc,it pisses folk off :!:

Cafe at St marys loch.

Then we went past cafe a short distance, maybe a mile or so,,turned left onto the .....,errrr,..it's unmarked on my map, but goes right across onto the A701 which leads you back into Moffat again.

This wee road is a cracker, great scenery, loads of viewpoints, but mostly single track with passing places, but you can see far ahead, so no worries, its worth it for the views, im sure you'll agree :!:

The road drops away down twisting steeply ,then follows up the right hand side of the loch :!:

Then home via B7076 (a fast road, motorway speeds easily for long stretches),then through Muirkirk, and Sorn, past Cupasoops hoose  ,then home :!:
