I use Ultraseal (now Puncturesafe) myself and have done for a long time now. As Pete I do check my tyres regularly for any thing they may have picked up, such as a screw or nail.

I agree about the lateral forces. I think the write up is more bias to four wheels than two. I do know if you put the proper amount in it will cover the entire treaded area and leave the side walls free.
Getting two punctures real close together would be a worry and not necessary a slim possibility. I'm thinking broken glass or a handful of screws carelessly chucked down by a trades man or something similar could easily puncture the tire in more than one place. Not something I'd like to test but I suppose if it can reduce the chance of a blow out and give you a controlled deflation that's better than none.

Anyway, that's my worry, but to be fair I find that in practice I only get punctures on brand new tyres when trying to get to somewhere important on time on days/times when the tyre shops are shut!

However my rear tyre is still good after using the Slime stuff, so I'll leave it till I've worn some more tread off it.
