not sure if the forced subscription route would work. I for one would defo go for the donation route. worth giving something for the chat and help the members of this forum offer. Great forum long may it live on

I don't mind putting in a few pounds for the enjoyment and info this site has given me for the last :? how many years.
But I feel that an exclusive you ain't paid you ain't getting in set up, would be not very good.

Cheers

Forced subscription will be a death knell. This is a fairly quiet forum, at the best of times, and it cannot really put any obstacles in the way of people either signing up or posting.

Move it to a cheaper host (SimpleMachines is pretty good, very flexible and cheap), and put a donation sticky in each sub-forum. Update it daily to show if we are in arrears and need a donation, or if we are OK for the month. I'm pretty sure that someone would chip in as soon as they saw that the meter was running low (I know I would)

Don’t mind donating myself but on voluntary bases
I use to post a lot on a VFR forum till some of my posts ended up in the member’s only part of the forum.
After a word about intellectual copyright and the fact that they ether make it available in the open forum or delete they reappeared in the open forum. :mad2 :mad2
Never posted on there again if they want to use my knowledge for making money then they can pay me

We've moved to a host with no bandwidth limit so we shouldn't run out again and it's cheep so no donations should be necessary (unless you want to slip me some cash...personal gift you understand :shh: ). I'd rather the site stayed free, money just complicates things.
