Well done Phil, sherlock holmes deerstalker on it's way
Seriously, though, why not add a line to the Knowledgebase thread?
REG - REC stuffage n things.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: REG - REC stuffage n things.
Phil,
You are a star - I am looking forward to having a go at getting this working - I'll let you know how I've got on after I have burned myself with a soldering iron and set fire to my jeans with a a heat gun...LOL Tony, I think you are right; this info should go in the thread as these are common on fleabay and I only paid £14 with postage, a far better deal than Honda can do.
Thanks again to the forum - knowledge is not a dirty word
Cheers

Re: REG - REC stuffage n things.
Done it!!! Job done!!!
Fitted R6 (6 pin rectifier) as directed by 'The Man' Phil-Vtwin (ta very much). Followed instructions religiously - ignition on - Nothing / dead / not even a flicker.
Hmmmm. Have I bought a duff part off fleabay??? possible but unlikely.
Hmmm.... I question myself - have I connected it right????? possible and probable (but nope - all OK).
Hmm..... where's that f@=+in' multimeter??????
1. Check connections and earth again. OK so far
2. Check battery - OK 12.55V constant. Still OK
3. Check power Main fuse - left side OK, right dead...ah!! Main Fuse blown!
4. Realise that the red wire on regulator is permanent live and will fuse if earthed - Doh!!
5. Replace fuse - bike fires and getting constant 14.26V charging....success.
6. Dance about garage.
7. Get leccy tape out to seal the connections ....ah leccy tape. Isn't always the case; always got tape(?) NOOOOOO!
8. Search madly around garage for the elusive roll.
9. Nip next door borrow tape and finish off the job.
Here's what I've learnt:
1. If doing this either disconnect battery or tape up +ve lead.
2. Always have leccy tape!
3. Buy a spare main fuse - just in case.
HAPPY FETTLING......I'm off for a beer

Re: REG - REC stuffage n things.
Good job
Rather than using electrical tape on connections, a small dap of clear silicant sealant is much better as the tape can hold mosture and lead to shorts on connectors.
Now you have the Yamaha unit installed the upper limit of the output voltage will be 14.9V as opposed to the 15.5V of the Honda unit.
