agree. might have a experiment with my spare speedo and see if there's a simpler way to get it more accurate tho. mate glued some solder under his needle to weight it and it works spot on, blob of superglue, then trim it off with nail clippers til it reads right against the satnav.
fixed cable ones before by pulling the spring through the crimp at the end and shortening it a bit.

i reckon theyre not far out up to legal speeds but beyond that it's anyone's guess.
using gearing commander to work out the speed v rpm i should be doing 157 at 10k but the speedo shows 170, that's assuming the tacho is accurate

I had a smash on an old bike and had to replace the clocks.
When the second hand replacement came along I thought it also might be a good idea to knock a few miles off  (Just to match the old ones obviously)
Only way to do this was to pull the needle off the clocks, this meant they needed recalibrating. All I did was ride along side a mate at seventy and stick the needle back on with some super glue.
Worked a treat!

I "may" ahve seen over 176 on the Fireblade...though to be honest at that sort of speeds you tend to be scanning a mile up the road (sorry, airfield :) ) rather than looking at the speedo.

Don't do it any more......mainly 'cos I have downgeared the bike and it tops out at about 158. Mental acceleration now though

had 155 on the clock following an Aeon kit car down the A12 coming back from Tony's maintenance day...and that was a bloody awful front wind.

considering I had 120 on the clocks and the satnav said 105-109, I would say my 155 was more like 140, but bloody exciting, especially when you are following someone that wants to push it.

Yeah I did put that in rather simplistic terms Mike, but then it was for Benny's benefit.
I was just waiting for the rejoinder of how he and his mate used to do 150 hanging out the back of their old ford Anglia's whilst trying to touch the tail of Mavericks plane going down the runway and they didn't need speedo's cause it was all on radar :P

Actually I stuck the needle on went out on it and sat next to a mate at seventy, looked at what mine registered and then, When I got off (cause superglue on your chipolata is not funny) moved the needle the difference between my reading and seventy
There, that was boring, I'll bet you'd of rather heard the superglue storey

you should've had more sense at that age.

I'd be impressed if one did a real 135-140,I've had air cooled 1000-1200 fours that only pulled that.Bloody quick is 140.

genuine 150 mph mate, you have to realise its a lightweight, aerodynamic bike here. look at the front not one flat spot against the wind.....

I saw 165 once on a blackbird..........but it was raining at the time (rainmaker obvious init) and on my gsxr 1000 k6 it was limited to 186, way way too fast for me.
Anyway like Pete said earlier top speed is not really important to us oldies...........does help with bowel movements though
it may be clever, but its not big.
