Hey AMC from that photo I see you are not supporting the lower section of your can??
Correct, on both sides I stopped using the footrest mount for the link pipe with stock cans, and with the new viper cans there is no lug fitted to the link pipe so that makes it all look nice and tidy

If you have bent valves it is not the end of the world, so don't panic. There are threads on the forum explaining how to fix it, and if you need advice there are plenty off people here who will help. As long as the pistons are not damaged it is a reasonably inexpensive fix. If there is cylinder damage, it depends how bad as to the course of action you will need to take. As long as you have a decent selection of basic tools, regardless of your experience you will be able to fix it yourself with the help and advice of the people on here. Keep calm and don't worry.

Be careful that center bolt in the altenator cover is made from a really soft allu. Its easy to damage it.

HELP ME PLEASE

If you do it yourself, about £24 per valve. You need to strip the head down and check which valves are bent. The new ones will need lapping in too. Either Tony, Benny Or one of the others will be able to offer more advice though. Good luck :)

You'll also need a head gasket, and shims when you re-gap the valve clearances. Total cost, assuming two bent exhaust valves; around £140 all in for parts.
You'll need to consider whether you need to change the oil, new oil filter, and possibly coolant, too, depending on when these were last changed.

It takes a day if you're reasonably used to working on these engines; from the sound of it you will take longer, but all the help is on here in the workshop sticky section and in other threads.

But as has been said, it isn't hard, and most people can manage it ok.
Whereabouts are you- in the uk?

I haven't included the cost of tensioners, either manual or standard Honda, as that's down to personal choice, but it's the same amount of work either way.

My personal recommend?
Once bitten, twice shy, fit manuals.
Bazza converts standard ones to manual for £35, and should have some ready to go, (an exchange service) or you can buy APE or APE copies for between £50 and 60 from various suppliers/mnfrs, or on EBlag.

Looking at the top of the head, you can see the tops of the buckets that sit over the valve springs.
They should all sit about the same amount down from the surrounding casting, but if bent at all the exhaust ones (usually) will be lower.

Actually you can see this BEFORE you pull the heads off.

Have you identified which CCT failed, by using a tiny screwdriver in the end of the cct's?

yes it is the front one. i have had the head cover off and just need to take the head off. but does this mean dropping the engine out. and yes i would of regretted it. she was a fantastic ride before she broke.

you can do it with the engine in the frame..look in the knowladge section for the info you need and print it off if you don't have a manual.
