Yeah i.ve been a tw@!!!. The cylinder head was advertised as a front one, but under further inversigation it is in fact a rear cylinder.. I have contacted the person i bought it from and they have offered me a full refund,,
So still waitin to do the rebuild!!

Anyone know of anybody who has a front cylinder head complete with valves etc that i could purchase,
Mine is a 1998 model with the cct on the carb side,

has it damaged the valve guides....if not just refurb the head you have...it cost me around £100 but i only had to replace the 2 exhaust valves when mine went..hopefully one of the forum spanner gods will have one in their spares store you can buy

Sorry I can't help out with the parts, but thanks for publishing the photo of the damage caused to the valves. A good reminder to anyone on this forum who thinks new auto's will resolve the cct's problem. Do the stopper mod or change to manuals guys or it's just a matter of time until you are on here with the same story to tell.

Andy have you checked on the for sale section? there was someone (Dan) breaking a VTR fairly recently.

Shame you sent the rear one you had back- it's quick and easy to strip the valves out and rebuild your own front head- they're interchangeable.

Bent valves after cct failure doesn't seem to damage the guides- I've repaired loads and never had to change guides, even on higher mileage engines.

Even if the guide feels a little slacker than ideal, fitting new valves takes up some of the slack, as the stems are unworn.
Just pop new seals on when you change them.

And don't use pattern seals, they aren't very reliable, in my experience!
Genuine ones aren't expensive, anyway, and not far off the price of pattern ones.

If you want to send over your old head and some new valves and seals I can rebuild it cheaply- it only takes a couple of hours, including lapping the valves in.

However if your front head is damaged beyond repair, I need one to chop about to see if I can open the exhaust port to an oval shape and make a custom big-bore exhaust, so give me a pm if that's the case?
Once I've chopped one about and worked out how to fit a new position for an exhaust stud i can buy a good one and do the work, but want to play with a scrap one first rather then wreck a good one.

I know I'm a bit late on this one but are not the front and rear heads the same casting? The cam chain adjuster position should be easy to convert with a bit of drilling,a blanking plate and tapping out the 6mm threads.

The mighty Storm has a heart beat again.

Took it out this morning for a blast,,,after an uncertain blowy start she soon picked up after chucking a load of crap and fireworks out of the exhaust,,lol.

Sounds and runs better than ever.
Another Storm saved from the scrap heap...love 'em..

Great news! Did you get a new front head to transplant on or did you repair the old head?
