Hi guys

Thanks for the welcome.

Well my plans are to street fighter the bike (some of you might hate me for that I know but I have good reason), I bought a VTR as I liked sports bikes but as I'm very tall (6'7") I needed a bigger bike so sports tourer it was, also I couldn't bear the idea of owning an ugly sv!!!

Anyway bike was a bit tatty to start with but was mechanically sound and very low mileage (15k) for its year (2000).
So had planned on respray and tarting it up a bit but then sadly the more I rode the bike in that position the more my bloody back ceased up ( I'm only 27 but get very bad back due to height and weight),

So I was thinking about street fighting the bike before but was undecided, well until I crashed it anyway.

Some tw@ head Saab driver came round a very sharp s bend on my side of the road and forced me to ditch the bike or get wiped up by a car, he also didn't stop and left me there!!

Anyhow injuries were minor more my confidence and ego that we're bruised lol.

So left side of bike fully smashed, fairing beyond repair, gear shift bent, clip on snapped off, switches broken, clutch lever bent, exhaust bent, and crash bung went straight through alternator cover and bent so badly I had to remove with angle grinder!
Side note, didn't realise the alternator on the bike gets oiled? I know more about cars really, but where case had broken I lost all the oil.

Anyway some pics:

How it looks now that I've started stripping it:

Subframe was bent a bit and made the butt end look all squiffy! so thats off and replacement on its way.

I was hooked on a thread the other night on i think its Daves-Sp storm to fighter project, I really liked what he did a lot and have PM'd him for some advice on wiring in a digital speedo/dash in replacement of the huge over wired originals (he hasn't replied tho :sad2 LOL) so any other advice on this subject is very much welcome especially whats the best one and easiest method of doing it. I have a Haynes book of lies and a soldering iron, plus I'm not a complete div so should be able to cope
