Re: Basics
you're alright there Virt- my son is doing physics and chemistry etc atm and keeps telling me things that are fascinating - like the centre of gravity of some forks and mug or whatever, was gobsmacked when he did it in pizza express, pyrotechnics included, like thisVirt wrote:You genius. Ha, wow. That is something, I think physics is broken. When I had my old tyres on I knew the rear had a slow puncture ad the front wasn't too clever either. I used to be able to when it needed more air added to it by the feel of the bike when I pushed it out back yard. It would be hard to push, Sometimes it was a real struggle and when the front loses pressure it gets hard steer.

Re: Basics
I bought some pressure caps and thought they was broke till i checked pressures and there was way low.so worth while to me
Ill never be a sell out storm forever
Re: Basics
i run 35F/41R...might sound odd but it feels better than 36F/42R...or maybe it's me thats odd

Re: Basics
I could always feel the difference when the bike had stood for a while and the first ride to the petrol station was a bit unpleasant as it always felt the front was wanting to dive into the corners. Pump them up and it felt like it was back to normal and made me feel confident to throw it into a corner again.
Why ask... sometime you just go to do it and find out?
Re: Basics
My mate swears by lower tyre pressures on the road, and they have improved the way his KTM behaves, so i spent a few weeks last year experimenting on the storm.
anything more than 5psi below the book made the bike feel less secure and in undulating sweepers and less predictable on the turn in. as the change in tyre sidewall stiffness was having a big effect on the suspension settings. so i then fiddled with the damping to try and compensate but always ended up coming back to front -3psi compared to book and rear -5psi.

If you have an accident and investigated by police they will check the whole bike over and if tyre pressures are low they could attribute blame to you for a defect on the bike.
Happened to a mate with a car, front tyres found to be under inflated so had to take partial blame as vehicle not classed as being 'used in accordance with manufacturers recommendations'
