It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Well, from the recent experience, the valves are darn expensive.

They are I recall 40 euros, each. So you need to spend almost 100 for the valves only.

Gasket is cheap. If you are lucky, you don't need any tooling for the heads, but if you do, that will add extra 100 to the cost, plus you need to get the valves adjusted (so you need to worry the shims - was that correct word?)

If the pistons are as well damaged (could happen) that will add extra 400 for the costs and at this point new engine is already cheaper.

And if the garage is charging by hour, you end up paying silly money just for the work (I got offer that they fix my bike with 800€).

However, if you are hands on DIY type of person, do the crazy thing like I did and do everything by yourself. For me I got extra superduperluckybonus and I need to get new piston rings, and honing, and... It would have been cheaper to buy new engine. The costs keep up piling slowly, as the diagnose is always difficult at the beginning...

But hey, if this wouldn't take all my money, it would be wrong hobby!
