There's probably some small print on the bike somewhere to say that any weights and measurements may not be as one may think.
It's is wrong though

There should be some kind of law or trading guidelines that these companies should have to abide by. It's a bit like a meal looking nice on the packaging and when you open it up it's totally different.

I can put up with all the HP and BHP BS but I just cant get my head around the metric power conversions
Specifications VTR1000 SP-2 (ED-type)
Engine
Type Liquid-cooled 4-stroke 8-valve DOHC 90° V-twin
Displacement 999cm3
Bore x Stroke 100 x 63.6mm
Compression Ratio 10.8 : 1
Max. Power Output 99kW/10,000min-1 (95/1/EC)
Max. Torque 102Nm/8,000min-1 (95/1/EC)
Idling Speed 1,300min-1
Oil Capacity 4.3 litres
Fuel System
Carburation PGM-FI electronic fuel injection
Throttle Bore 62mm
Aircleaner Dry, cartridge-type paper filter
Fuel Tank Capacity 18 litres (including 2.5-litre warning light reserve)
According to this my bike is making 99KWatts at 10,k rpm....somehow I can imagine a number of horses pulling an object but I can quite grasp having a bike which is capable of heating 30 kettles

What's that all about

I take between 12% and 13% off of the engine BHP to get a figure to look for at the wheel on my dyno.
That is for a chain driven bike, I use -15% to 16% to give me a figure for a shaft drive bike.
101bhp at the rear wheel on a good day on my storm and 86bhp if memory serves me right from my 100bhp BMW K1200.
Some bike are worse than others depending on how the drive train is sent back and forth cross the frame.
