Thanks "carl" will attack the rest of the jobs after weekend and hope for the best. Your info will hopefully help with sorting all that is wrong? Missing riding time at the mo.

What problems have you got then. Is not just a case of fitting manual tensioners, well, apart from the generator cap  Another way of setting the timing that would not require the removal of the cap or covers, as long as both cam covers are off. Is to flick the starter button a few times until the cams come around into position. It takes a few attempts to get it spot on but it is possible. Iv'e no idea why you removed the clutch pushrod, I'm guessing you turned the engine over from the sprocket.

Stripped the bike down all the way to expose both sets of cams. I am pleased to inform that the APE's on my bike do have shorter threads than the ones on Domdom's machine. Chain tension on the front was spot on, the rear was one flat too loose. All sorted and the bike back together and tested, long job but great practice for when we have a workshop day. BTW thanks Cybercarl for the helping hand, much appreciated.
