I'm not entirely sure which bit your talking about. Do you mean the flat plate piece of the clamp where it folds over the dowel that the bolt threads through. That's another thing I have had happen when overightening clamps. Admittedly the cheaper kind, but the round dowel type piece, I have crushed from overtightening. If a clamp is broken, best to just buy new ones, they are cheap enough. I suppose you could rivet it but it will always be a weak point.

Sorry my description was rubbish, the bit that wraps around the dowel and then is attached to itself came out... Image

Oh no I don't want to repair it, I was just thinking of reinforcing the unbroken clamps...

The broken clamp failed on the bit that is folded back on its self and is then crimped into the overlapping part, the crimped bit became very un crimped! I was thinking about popping a rivet through to stop the crimp from taking all the strain.
It's not crimped, that's for hair and pastry

It's spot welded.
Pressure is applied through electrodes either side and while clamped together an electric current is passed through both layers of metal, with heat up and weld to each other.
The more spot welds the stronger.

it's used extensively on car bodies.
When you see films of robot assembly units sparking away that's what they're doing.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Ahh wow, didn't know that! That makes more sense!

Pastry crimpers wouldn't be very strong now would they :) :)

Do you think a rivet through the middle would help too?
