Just know the insurance company will undervalue her they always do.
Keep track of what similar age & condition (prior to the smash) VTRs go for on fleabay / MCN - print them out as evidence, along with any pics of your bike taken recently.
Bloody knee is hurting me.
No pain no gain :p Keep taking the paracetamol and ibuprofen and keep it elevated - get someone to peel your grapes etc...
Big bonus though really hot nurse at the hospital looking after me!!!!!!!
Bashed balls resulting in *query* groin ache eh!

Looking at pics

Looks like apparent R/H f/peg hanger/ footpeg, R/H Radiator, R/H mirror & fairing panel. Tank. Scrapes on R/H can & barends. Enough cosmetic damage to write it off unless you can get agreement to keep it under the the write-off threshold (easier to do when it is your own insurance company) a lot depends on how you put things to her assessor when they visit to inspect. Be upfront and say you want to fix it yourself (therefor there won't be a garages labour bill) but it could mean receiving less £££ but get the agreed value as high as possible, though they'll try for lowest 'book' value and make you a cheap initial offer. And prepare for lots of funny phonecalls asking if you''ve been in RTA recently...

Seems she just scraped her 4x4's bumper :eek2

Going to get the bike back out of the recovery agent tomorrow just sourcing a trailer/van today. Buggers charge you a days storage even though they are not open today. I'm hopeful that I can get her repaired without writing her off as she was spotless condition and only 22000 on her. Just know the insurance company will undervalue her they always do. I had just done a full service etc. Did the manual tensioners at the workshop day a couple of years ago. I'm hoping that she is stuck on for careless driving. Bloody knee is hurting me. Big bonus though really hot nurse at the hospital looking after me!!!!!!! Should be in the market for some yellow fairing and tank soon.
Cheers I'll keep you posted.
Geoff
you'll be surprised on what the insurance company offer you regarding the value of your bike, i bought my bike for £720 and got paid £1650 when it was written off 3 weeks later, and more recently a friend of mine got a similar price for his storm after it was written off, i doubt it would be a cat d, more likely to be a cat c, and as mac said the lug on the headstock is normally the part that snaps.... :(
but as your bike has taken a more glancing blow, you might be ok. post up a list of parts and we'll see if we can help out, i have clip-ons if you need them...

Right got the bike back today and had a quick look over and heres what needs replacing so far:
1.Front indicators
2.Full Front fairing (glorious yellow)
3.Right hand radiator and fan and feed pipe
4.thermostat housing
5.fuel tank (glorious yellow)
6.rh riders footpeg/exhaust mount
7.rh fairing mounting bracket
8. clutch lever
9. gear shift lever
10. Generator cover (scuffed) not essential
11.rear brake pedal

possibly both clip ons as well although they dont look bent?

The steering goes from lock to lock and hits stops and key lock works on both turns, so that is a positive.
Going to go over it a bit more tomorrow and apparently the assessor will be in contact this week to arrange to come and view the bike.
Its seems a lot of storms are selling on fleabay for about 1500-1800 for 97/98 with 20000 on clock etc be interested to hear your opinions on that.

Cant really do much until i see what game the insurance man plays.
Thanks so far for all your input and well wishes.
Cheers

Is that dealer or private sale prices? as dealers will add another £300-£400 over private prices.

It seems to be a mixture of both dealer and private. going to have a look on MCN and bike Trader tomorrow try and get some evidence.

From the photos he probably meant the water pump housing which is fractured.
